SUMMARY:Fusion 360 – Design Thinking and 3D Modelling
DESCRIPTION:Enter a realm of infinite design possibilities with 3D modelling. We will walk you through the step by step design process using Fusion 360. \nCome to our workshop if: \nYou want to design your very own unique product \nYou’ve got a doodle on a napkin but want to create a professional representation of your idea \nYou are interested in learning automated fabrication tools like CNC mills \nNot a member? If you love the workshop and want more classes or access to our facilities\, check out our monthly memberships. \nDetails:\nDuration: 3.5 hours \n6:00pm – 9:30pm on weekdays \nMaximum # of Participants: 6 \nProject: Skill building experience with Fusion 360 \nPrerequisites: None. \nParticipants must bring a laptop and mouse to the class with Fusion 360 already downloaded and installed! \nDownload Fusio 360 for personal use here: https://www.autodesk.com/ca-en/products/fusion-360/personal \nRecommended: Basic computer competency (how to use a computer\, browse the internet) \n**Please note registration closes 24 hours prior to class** \nClass Goals:\nParticipants in this class will learn how to think and design in 3D! With the help of our instructor\, participants will be introduced to Fusion 360\, navigating a 3D workspace and utilizing a variety of modelling tools to design a projects for fabrication. Learning the underlying thought process of how a physical shape can be manufactured will be what participants use to drive their design process. By the end of the class\, everyone will have a basic understanding of how to use the software to design a project for fabrication and can use the resulting files in our other classes;laser cutting\, CNC milling\, 3D printing. \nAbout the Instructor:\nAdam is the true definition of a Maker with experience ranging from upholstery to machining exhaust fittings for light aircraft. He has been tinkering for as long as he can remember and fondly recalls spending summers with his dad and brothers building tree forts\, soapbox racers\, and bike ramps. Their favourite project? An epic two-floor pallet wood treehouse complete with lights\, windows and (of course) a secret escape hatch. \nHe followed his passion through school taking as many courses as he could in woodworking\, metal fabrication\, music production\, and media arts. For the past 10 years\, Adam has built skillsets in many disciplines with his favourite being custom car audio fabricator. Adam’s approach to design and making often comes from a need to solve problems that don’t have commercially available solutions. \nLearn more about Maker Cube and check out our other classes and events at www.makercube.ca \nFAQs\nWhat is the age limit for the class?\nThe minimum age for participants is 14. SUMMARY:Epoxy Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Join us at Maker Cube to learn about Epoxy in our two-session epoxy workshop! Epoxy is a liquid two-part plastic\, a resin and a hardener\, that can be mixed to create a clear and hard surface once cured. It can be used for projects such as river tables or serving trays\, or used as a high gloss coating for projects. \nAvoid spending unnecessary money and time to practice through trial and error. Whether you are interested in making small pieces like epoxy coasters or want to start on your dream river table\, you need to know how to pick the right epoxy for your project. In this class\, you will get started with the basics and learn how to set up a form to achieve the best results! \nDay 1 – Learn about resins and epoxy and how to select the right product for your project\, how to prepare the wood and to make a leak-proof form. Pick your favourite pigment colour and pour the epoxy. \nDay 2 – Demolding the charcuterie board\, optional shaping\, sanding\, and finishing. For a final touch\, we will use Maker Cube’s Wood Waker Deep Penetrating oil for added lustre and protection. He has been tinkering for as long as he can remember and fondly recalls spending summers with his dad and brothers building tree forts\, soapbox racers\, and bike ramps. Their favorite project? An epic two-floor pallet wood treehouse complete with lights\, windows and (of course) a secret escape hatch. He followed his passion through school taking as many courses as he could in woodworking\, metal fabrication\, music production\, and media arts. For the past 10 years\, Adam has built skillsets in many disciplines with his favorite being custom car audio fabricator. Adam’s approach to design and making often comes from a need to solve problems that don’t have commercially available solutions. \nFAQs \nWhat is the age limit for the class? \nThe minimum age for participants is 14.
