Frequently Asked Questions

Is this pottery class beginner-friendly?

Yes—perfect for first-timers. We focus on handbuilding and skills you can take home — no wheel required.

Can I eat during the pottery class?

No food at the worktables. Sealed drinks with lids are fine. Quick snacks are okay in our reception area before/after class.

What should I bring with me?

Wear comfy clothes you don’t mind getting clay on, closed-toe shoes, and tie back long hair. Short nails help. If you have your own apron, you are welcome to bring it. We provide all clay, tools, glazes, and firing.

Is the finish food-safe?

We use food-safe glazes and fire to a safe temperature. Handwashing is recommended; avoid thermal shock (extreme temperature changes). Metallic/gloss accents shouldn’t go in the microwave.

Can I bring my own clay or tools?

Please use our house clay (it’s matched to our kiln and glazes). Personal hand tools are welcome, but we have everything you’ll need.

Can I personalize my pottery set?

Absolutely — add texture, stamps, and initials. We’ll guide you on keeping food-contact surfaces smooth and functional.

When will my pottery pieces be ready?

The class will span 2 sessions over 2 weeks. Allow about 1–3 weeks for the final glaze firing. We’ll email you when they’re ready for pickup!

What is the minimum age limit for the pottery class?

This class is intended for adults. While the process is not difficult for minors to participate, the content is geared to an older audience. Check out our youth programming to see available classes geared towards younger audiences!

How early should I arrive?

Please arrive 15 minutes early to check in and complete the waiver so we can start on time.

What if I’m late?

Safety instructions are covered at the very beginning of the class. Those who are arriving late may not be admitted to the workshop if they have missed this.

How do I cancel or reschedule a pottery class?

Refunds or credit for future classes will only be provided if we are notified by email to [email protected] at least 24 hours in advance of the class. No refunds will be provided for late cancellation, and a re-booking fee of 50% of the cost of the class will be applied to reschedule a class.
