SUMMARY:MIG Welding Basics
DESCRIPTION:Take home your very own rocket stove in this introductory welding class!\n\n\nIn this introductory level MIG welding orientation\, you can get hands on experience with tools in the metal shop and learn the step by step process to create clean strong welds. You will carry out several operations to prep your material\, tack your pieces and lay a simple bead. This process aims to make you comfortable using the tools and gain welding experience. All of this combined will make your very own rocket stove! \nDuration: 3 hours \nTime: 1:00pm-4:00pm (please note the class may exceed 3 hours and go until 4:30) \nMaximum Participants: four (4) \n**Please note registration closes 24 hours prior to class** \nClass Goals: You will learn the proper safety procedures and the routine set up to weld confidently. By the end of the class you will have gained experience in: prepping and cleaning stock for a weld\, tacking a weld\, creating T joints and the outside corners of welds\, and fitting a MIG weld into your project. The final project will be a rocket stove you can proudly take home and use. \nOur instructor will explain the mechanics of each tool and carry out an orientation to demonstrate their function. You will be authorized to use the tools independently and receive ample practice time. \nAfter the orientation\, members at Maker Cube will be able to use the tools covered in the orientation on a regular basis after successful completion of the testing portion each tool. \nCome to our workshop if :\nYou want to increase your exposure to welding \nYou are not scared of a few sparks flying (literally) \nYou want to make your own iron man suit \nNot a member?
