SUMMARY:Epoxy Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Join us at Maker Cube to learn about Epoxy in our two-session epoxy workshop! Epoxy is a liquid two-part plastic\, a resin and a hardener\, that can be mixed to create a clear and hard surface once cured. It can be used for projects such as river tables or serving trays\, or used as a high gloss coating for projects. \nAvoid spending unnecessary money and time to practice through trial and error. Whether you are interested in making small pieces like epoxy coasters or want to start on your dream river table\, you need to know how to pick the right epoxy for your project. In this class\, you will get started with the basics and learn how to set up a form to achieve the best results! \nDay 1 – Learn about resins and epoxy and how to select the right product for your project\, how to prepare the wood and to make a leak-proof form. Pick your favourite pigment colour and pour the epoxy. \nDay 2 – Demolding the charcuterie board\, optional shaping\, sanding\, and finishing. For a final touch\, we will use Maker Cube’s Wood Waker Deep Penetrating oil for added lustre and protection. The class will start as scheduled\, please be respectful to the instructor and other participants by arriving on time. \nCome to our Epoxy workshop if:\n\nYou want to learn how to pick the right epoxy.\nYou want to get started working with epoxy safely!\nYou want to stop spending money and time on trial and error.\n\nAbout the Instructor: \n\nAdam Ali\, Director and Co-founder at Maker Cube\nAdam is the true definition of a Maker with experience ranging from upholstery to machining exhaust fittings for light aircraft. He has been tinkering for as long as he can remember and fondly recalls spending summers with his dad and brothers building tree forts\, soapbox racers\, and bike ramps. Their favorite project? An epic two-floor pallet wood treehouse complete with lights\, windows and (of course) a secret escape hatch. He followed his passion through school taking as many courses as he could in woodworking\, metal fabrication\, music production\, and media arts. For the past 10 years\, Adam has built skillsets in many disciplines with his favorite being custom car audio fabricator. Adam’s approach to design and making often comes from a need to solve problems that don’t have commercially available solutions. \nFAQs \nWhat is the age limit for the class? \nThe minimum age for participants is 14. Participants under the age of 18 must have a parent or guardian provide supervision during the class. \nWhere can I park? \nMaker Cube’s parking lot has ample space available. Should the lot reach capacity\, there is additional street parking along 206A St. \nHow do I cancel or reschedule a class? \nRefunds or credit for future classes will only be provided if we are notified by email to info@makercube.ca at least 24 hours in advance of the class. No refunds will be provided for late cancellation\, and a re-booking fee of 50% of the cost of the class will be applied to reschedule a class. \nProcessing fees not refunded. \nPlease arrive 15 minutes before the class for sign-in and to ensure it starts on time.
