By the end of the class you will have gained experience in: prepping and cleaning stock for a weld\, tacking a weld\, creating T joints and the outside corners of welds\, and fitting a MIG weld into your project. The final project will be a rocket stove you can proudly take home and use. \nOur instructor will explain the mechanics of each tool and carry out an orientation to demonstrate their function. You will be authorized to use the tools independently and receive ample practice time. \nAfter the orientation\, members at Maker Cube will be able to use the tools covered in the orientation on a regular basis after successful completion of the testing portion each tool. \nCome to our MIG workshop if :\nYou want to increase your exposure to welding \nYou are not scared of a few sparks flying (literally) \nYou want to make your own iron man suit \nNot a member? If you love the class and want more shop time we offer great incentives for new members on the day of the workshop. Click here to learn more about membership at Maker Cube. \nSafety First\nRequired: \n\nWelding Helmet (We strongly recommended that participants bring their own welding shield\, if a participant does not have a welding mask\, a sanitized welding mask will be provided)\nSafety Glasses (participants must bring their own eye protection\, if they do not have eye protection a pair of safety glasses can be purchased at Maker Cube’s front counter)\nParticulate Filter (You will be welding metal alloys\, so make sure to bring a particulate mask or respirator. For half mask respirators\, only pancake\, flat-style\, filters will fit under the welding helmet.)\nClosed Toed Shoes (preferably boots)\nDenim jeans\nLong sleeves\nLong hair tied back\nNo loose jewelry\nNo flammable materials (synthetic material such as polyester\,nylon etc.)\n\nRecommended: \n\nSteel toed boots\nA baseball cap\n\nPrerequisites: None \nTools Learned: \n\nTiG welder\n\nAbout the Instructor : \n\nCorey Gerard – MIG and TIG Welding Instructor at Maker Cube\nCorey’s interest in fabrication began in 2012 when he started working for a water jet company. After a few years of building a strong skill set in metallurgy\, precision measures and water jet cutting\, Corey began a new career path working for foundation mechanical. At his new career he has expanded his welding skills while learning how to build brewery equipment and gained experience in laser cutting\, graphic design and brewing beer! \nIn his space time when he’s not tinkering at Maker Cube\, Corey enjoys; rock climbing in the summer\, snow boarding in the winter\, playing guitar and drinking an ice cold beer. \nFAQS \nWhat is the age limit for the class? \nThe minimum age for participants is 14. Participants under the age of 18 must have a parent or guardian provide supervision during the class. \nWhere can I park ? \nMaker Cube’s parking lot has ample space available. Should the lot reach capacity\, there is street parking along 206A St. \nHow do I cancel or reschedule a class? \nRefunds or credit for future classes will only be provided if we are notified by email to info@makercube.ca at least 24 hours in advance of the class. No refunds will be provided for late cancellation\, and a re-booking fee of 50% of the cost of the class will be applied to reschedule a class. \nProcessing fees not refunded. \nPlease arrive 15 minutes before the class for sign-in and to ensure it starts on time\, those arriving more than 5 minutes late will not be able to attend. In the event of low registration\, the class will be canceled and participants registered will be rescheduled to an alternate class date. \nFor more information about membership\, visit http://makercube.ca/how-to-become-a-maker

This small-cohort pilot is built for Maker Cube members who want to learn the same practical design approach we use in-house—and apply it directly to their own projects. With a maximum of four participants\, expect lots of individual feedback\, iteration\, and real problem-solving. \n[/vc_column_text][image_with_animation image_url=”26197″ image_size=”full” animation_type=”entrance” animation=”None” animation_movement_type=”transform_y” hover_animation=”none” alignment=”” border_radius=”none” box_shadow=”none” image_loading=”default” max_width=”100%” max_width_mobile=”default” margin_top=”30″][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1772398879556{margin-top: 20px !important;margin-bottom: 20px !important;padding-top: 20px !important;padding-bottom: 20px !important;}”]\nBuild Real-World Design Workflows in Fusion\n[/vc_column_text][divider line_type=”No Line” custom_height=”30″][vc_column_text]\nAcross the series\, you’ll build confidence moving between the key Fusion workspaces used in real fabrication workflows: solid modeling for planning parts and assemblies\, surface tools when geometry gets complex\, reverse engineering with measurements and scan data\, and CAM for everything from simple toolpaths to multi-setup parts. You’ll also explore sheet metal design and unfolding so you can create flat patterns for plasma\, laser\, or templates\, plus strategies for designing across woodworking\, metalworking\, 3D printing\, and mixed-material builds. \n[/vc_column_text][image_with_animation image_url=”26195″ image_size=”full” animation_type=”entrance” animation=”None” animation_movement_type=”transform_y” hover_animation=”none” alignment=”” border_radius=”none” box_shadow=”none” image_loading=”default” max_width=”100%” max_width_mobile=”default” margin_top=”30″][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1772398885450{margin-top: 20px !important;margin-bottom: 20px !important;padding-top: 20px !important;padding-bottom: 20px !important;}”]\nSmall Cohort\, Serious Skill Growth\n[/vc_column_text][divider line_type=”No Line” custom_height=”30″][vc_column_text]\nThis is a software-only class focused on design thinking and file preparation. You’ll leave with a stronger ability to create manufacturable designs\, troubleshoot fit and tolerances\, and prepare clean files for CNC\, 3D printing\, laser\, plasma\, or outsourcing. If you miss a session\, catch-up files and tutorials will help you stay on track. \n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row type=”in_container” full_screen_row_position=”middle” column_margin=”default” column_direction=”default” column_direction_tablet=”default” column_direction_phone=”default” scene_position=”center” top_padding=”40″ text_color=”dark” text_align=”left” row_border_radius=”none” row_border_radius_applies=”bg” overflow=”visible” overlay_strength=”0.3″ gradient_direction=”left_to_right” shape_divider_position=”bottom” bg_image_animation=”none” gradient_type=”default” shape_type=””][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_tablet=”inherit” column_padding_phone=”inherit” column_padding_position=”all” column_element_direction_desktop=”default” column_element_spacing=”default” desktop_text_alignment=”default” tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_backdrop_filter=”none” column_shadow=”none” column_border_radius=”none” column_link_target=”_self” column_position=”default” gradient_direction=”left_to_right” overlay_strength=”0.3″ width=”1/1″ tablet_width_inherit=”default” animation_type=”default” bg_image_animation=”none” border_type=”simple” column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid”][vc_row_inner column_margin=”default” column_direction=”default” column_direction_tablet=”default” column_direction_phone=”default” text_align=”left” row_position=”default” row_position_tablet=”inherit” row_position_phone=”inherit” overflow=”visible” pointer_events=”all”][vc_column_inner column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_tablet=”inherit” column_padding_phone=”inherit” column_padding_position=”all” column_element_direction_desktop=”default” column_element_spacing=”default” desktop_text_alignment=”default” tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_backdrop_filter=”none” column_shadow=”none” column_border_radius=”none” column_link_target=”_self” overflow=”visible” gradient_direction=”left_to_right” overlay_strength=”0.3″ width=”1/2″ tablet_width_inherit=”default” animation_type=”default” bg_image_animation=”none” border_type=”simple” column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid”][vc_column_text el_class=”bullets”]\nDetails\n\n6 sessions\, 2.5h each\nCost: 500 per person\nMaximum 4 participants\nCatch up files and tutorials provided if you miss a class\n\n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_tablet=”inherit” column_padding_phone=”inherit” column_padding_position=”all” column_element_direction_desktop=”default” column_element_spacing=”default” desktop_text_alignment=”default” tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_backdrop_filter=”none” column_shadow=”none” column_border_radius=”none” column_link_target=”_self” overflow=”visible” gradient_direction=”left_to_right” overlay_strength=”0.3″ width=”1/2″ tablet_width_inherit=”default” animation_type=”default” bg_image_animation=”none” border_type=”simple” column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid”][vc_column_text el_class=”bullets”]\nPlanned guided projects:\n\nPrint-in-place 3D printed hinges Headphone stand (sketch → model)\nGift box (intro to CAM\, tolerances)\nFlat-pack CNC stool (joinery\, arranging parts\, 2D/3D CAM)\nInstrument body (guitar body\, two-sided CNC setup)\nElectrical Box (sheet metal flat pattern)\nBike accessory clamp (sheet metal + scan data)\nAutomotive speaker mount (scan data)\nTool trays (reverse engineering with measuring + scans)\n\n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][/vc_column][/vc_row]
